Foals!!

June 2004: A very very sad note. Matsje passed away this summer due to complications in foalbirth. Dahlia will be her only foal. Our sincere condolences to Noble Friesians, Matsje's owners. This was a terrific mare and her death is a terrible loss to the Friesian world.

Comments from a happier time:

When we began our breeding operation, we decided that we wanted to acquire broodmares which had the bloodlines and performance that were "best of the best". We were pretty darned happy when we found Hiltje (who has the bloodlines, all right), but we still wanted a mare who had achieved a high status based on her own judged merits. The search took us nearly two years, but we finally found Matsje, a recent import from Holland. Matsje's papers are Friesian royalty. She has model, star and preferent lines throughout. In addition, she has been rated 1st premie as a weanling and 3 year-old, and has received her star recognition. Her disposition is friendly and trusting. Her movement is animated, precise, and powerful. A real grade "A".
