Tsjemme, born April 20, 2006
Hiltje x Sibald 380

Tsjemme is a very long, tall foal, quite black in color. He is a smart boy and just full of himself. He is going to mature to a large height - possibly 16.3 to 17 hands (or maybe more!). He is a perfect example of a "modern style" friesian.

We will add photos etc. over time, but for now, look below to see what we were shooting for in this particular cross, and to learn more about Tsjemme's mother and father.

What type of foal are we looking for in this match

  • This cross is proven. In 2003 we crossed Hiltje with Sibald. The proof of this cross is with that foal - a 1st premie, champion filly named Marigold. If you want to see beautiful, look at her web page.

  • Solid Quality in all Disciplines. Hiltje is excellent under saddle or in harness. She is a good mover with a lovely high head carriage and good front end. But her best trait is her heart - she is honest and hard working and tries her best to perform well. This helps her excel at most everything she does. Sibald is a strong carriage horse, also with an honest and solid work ethic. His web page states that Sibald "is a stallion with a sincere and gentle character. In addition to his character, Sibald displays an eagerness to perform."

  • Excellent breeding record. Hiltje is a beautiful full-papered mare with unbroken lines back to the 1950's. Her quality as a broodmare has been proven - she already has a 1st premie star mare and 1st premie champion filly among her offspring. Sibald is fully approved on offspring and is producing a number of stallions who are making it to the final rounds of stallion testing. Both Hiltje and Sibald are from stam 25 - one of the most famous and successful breeding lines in Friesian history.

  • Stronger hindquarters but keep the temperament . Hiltje's weakest point is the hindquarters, so we like to cross her with good driving stallions. Driving is Sibald's forte. Again, we feel Hiltje's work ethic and temperament are top notch, so we want to breed with a stallion who will keep this. Sibald does.

  • Low inbreeding coeffcient. The inbreeding for this pair is quite low - less than 2.15%

What are we expecting with this foal?

Of course, one never knows exactly how a foal will turn out, but here is what we expect. The foal should be quite good in all the standard measurements - temperament, beauty, movement, intellect, versatility. Basically, this should be an extremely well-rounded and high quality foal who can tackle most disciplines admirably: dressage, driving, pleasure riding... you name it. S/he should be medium build and slightly above average height, with a nice full mane. If a male, the foal should become a wonderful all-round performer and permanent member of the family. A female foal will have the genetics to be a good breeder with a solid, good quality foals. Either male or female will likely have Hiltje's temperament - self-assured with an affinity towards humans and an incredible work ethic. There is no better temperament than that found in a Hiltje foal.

This is what we are breeding for. But of course, ya never know.
